What happened this past week is a tragedy, is heartbreak and utterly disgusting! A 6 year daughter, boyfriends, sisters, military members and parents were killed...and for what??? No point was made, in my mind the only point made was America needs to wake up yet again.
Most will blame this young man, some will blame media and very few will blame themselves. Many are jumping once again on the Ban The Guns bandwagon, let me remind you the NRA will probably shoot you before that happens.
Here's my view point on things....let me REMIND you, this is my view point!!!
I'll admit it I don't own a gun my husband does not own a gun and there is no time in any near future that we will own a gun. Money is no factor, fear is no factor a young child in my house is a factor along with what we allow our children to see. I am a military daughter and wife and somehow I managed to avoid guns for 25 years and counting. Yes one day I would love how to shoot one and all the good stuff that comes with guns, but not this second. I have family that owns guns on both my side and my husbands some for hunting and some for protection. We have many friends who own guns and I guess we've just failed to jump on the bandwagon but for good reasons!
I for one have no self control and I know for a Fact I will put a bullet through a wall to prove a point to the dog when he steals chocolate off the table! Also when the husband ignores me and fails to do something his knee would become an example of not listening to me....and we just can't afford for him not to have a job or me in jail! So no we wont be owning guns anytime soon, and we are at a place where we don't need that protection. On a military base where I pray most parents raise their kids with respect to guns and also the police aren't 20 minutes away...5 is pushing it!
I have a young child a year old and no she probably couldn't get to one if we had one but one day she just might....these toys for kids have you tried to get them out of their "Shoplifting Proof" , probably not but give it to any child and they can get it out! And you think they can't figure out how to put a gun together....and please don't start that it's in a safe, if it's for family protection how the Hell is it going to protect you in a safe??? Now back to kid and gun....you tell me how your going to handle the conversation with your child as he/she is holding a loaded gun aiming right at you???? One wrong word and that kid pulls the trigger!!!
Oh and lets add your child knows better......and society knows better, HAHAHAHA !!!! You make me laugh, you child knows better, just like your child knows not to have sex till their married and God Bless your child he/she isn't having sex.....please stop me from laughing!!! Have you recently watched TV and I mean Cable not just HBO or Showtime? Or any movie recently? Our kids are taught guns do damage but everyone lives afterwards, movies are fact no of that is real. So whats going through our kids minds "He shot that guy in a movie a year ago but look hes in this new movie now???" Do you really think a 6 or even 9 year understand that a actor can play in multiple movies? And do you sit down and explain these things to your kids, no you allow the media and movies to explain it, and you still believe your kids aren't having sex!
I don't watch many movies but I was a huge fan of Live Free or Die Hard, was it just me or did everyone else want to go home and try and shoot someone through their own shoulder? I was watching a news broadcast yesterday and I hear two great things one was this "America Loves Pornographic Violence" how true is that statement, we love to watch people get hurt. The father a few years ago who videotaped and encouraged his son the beat the crap out of someone else, or the teen girls who beat a girl into a seizure and then still continued to beat her? Dexter anyone, one of our favorite shows in this house, it's about a man who goes around killing guilty people with a knife not a gun buts a glorified show. CSI, NCIS any cop show on tv and many others use guns more times than you see commercials.
How can we sit here a blame one person of such damage when we as a society love the sight of violence...just not when its "Real Life" ! The problem needs to be solved at home, if you choose to watch these shows explanations need to be given to your children. And how about given toy guns to our kids, what a great idea lets teach them that guns are toys!
Please don't sit here and blame one person, most of you will only because you wont sit back and look at the whole picture you see red and you want to blame, end of story!
The other thing I heard in that news broadcast was something the wonderful Chris Rock said in a stand up many years ago...."We don't need gun control, tax the shit out of bullets!" Whose going to shoot someone when it cost up to $1000 a bullet??? Along with that who needs an automatic gun? That is uncalled for, if you plan on putting 100 bullets in a deer while out hunting I truly hope you didn't plan on mounting it on the wall or eating it, then what was the point of hunting? You plan on putting over 100 bullets in someone who attacks you, that is way past self defense in my mind.
Yes there needs to be more control and censorship one guns, gun purchases and why is it okay to buy over 1,000 bullets online! Shutterfly alerts me when I have recently bought pictures from them but no company sends up a red flag to someone buy mass quantities of bullets???
As you can see I don't blame this guy 100% for what he did, does he more than likely have a mentally problem that aided in this, Yes! We as a country need a major reality check. There is so much that we are against all day long but when it comes to sitting down in front of the tv we love it!
My all time favorite, so many people seem to be against or creeped out by breastfeeding mothers...but we're okay staring at breast on the tv as we shop...but don't you dare bring them out to feed a child!!!
If you read this far thank you, if not then oh well to each their own! As I said before this is my opinion on the matter. This was a tragedy it breaks my heart in more ways than one, to know a young child wont get to see her prom and a newly married husband left his wife on his birthday! It's all tragic, but it's also tragic that us as a country can't see the real truth!
All I ask is that you carry an open mind everyday...think before you speak, you never know what the person infront of you has gone through! Remember we are all human we all make mistakes, some bigger than others and when they say it takes a village to raise a baby they ain't lying!!!
