I wanted to tell you a littl story, most of our family & friends have heard this story but for those who haven't...
Once upon the year 2010 I begged Tommy and when I gave up the begging he in turn begged me for a dog! He wanted a Great Dane or some other giant dog, I was happy with getting a beagle! Didn't matter what bread, well sorta, we just wanted a darn dog!
After many trips by myself to the shelter and checking their website 4 times a day the dog of our dreams showed up! Go figure the one day Tommy gets out of work early the battery in the truck dies and yes I cried!!! I so badly wanted to go rescue that poor dog and call him our own. See the shelter has a first come basis...only 2 people can be intersted in a dog, if those 2 fall through another 2 can be interested in the dog, I wanted to get to the shelter and be INTERESTED!!!
We walked through the kennels together getting barked at by every darn dog and sadly every other dog was a pit, a dog we were not going to adopt! Not to say pits aren't amazing loving dogs I just didn't want to fight every place we went to keep him or her.
We both stopped dead in our tracks...
this guy looked up at us from his dog made ball (he was all curled up in the corner) and after about 5 seconds of eye contact he went back to his dog made ball and I can only assume he tried to drown out the other dogs and sleep! We found him and no one was interested in taking him home and you can see why...
I rushed in with all his information asked to take him on a walk and asked them a million questions...and all they could answer me was "We just got him in, he was suppose to be put down!!!" They had no idea how old he was they guessed 2 and couldn't realse why he was brought in all we knew was he came from Levy County, FL. All I knew was that we were taking him home!!!
He was placed on the Foster to Adopt list, this guy had ear infections, eye infections, needed to be fix and was 40lbs under weight!!! I was the farthest from patient when it came to waiting for him, I called everyday visited when I could and when they called for me to come get him my right leg couldn't press the gas hard enough. We fostered him for about 2 weeks and my goodness what a great 2 weeks! The second night in our house Tommy and I ventured out to the pet store and returned to a starved dog taking matters into his own hands, he managed to get the FULL loaf of bread off the microwave and eat it, plastic bag and all!!! We couldn't blame him though!

I'm really not sure how someone could not love this face. He had made him a bed but he refused to sleep anywhere that wasn't a pile of dirty clothes. He and Tommy instantly fell in love and they are both still madly in love with each other.
We are blessed to have him, even though I complain alot! For being a starved dog he is very patient, Little Miss Ruby could snatch his food away from him and it wouldn't phase him any. He lets anyone climb all over him and in return he climbs all over whoever leaves an open lap...

He gets along so well with other dogs and loves the dog park...we did have to teach him a little that its okay to play with others, for the longest time he played by himself at the park! He does fantastic with Rascal, although there are a few times when I feel its okay for Blu to bite Rascal!
Oh I forgot to mention the shelter named him Blu and we decided to keep it...Blu the BlueTick Coon Hound!!!
And to think this amazing dog was scheduled to be put down. I pray that if any of you plan on getting a dog please adopt! We spent $65 on this Amazing dog and he is not only a dog but a family member! He has a birthday every year and gets gifts on Christmas!
So why spend $200-$800 on a dog when you can save one....actually SAVE ones life. Now those that have gotten those pricey dogs next time you think about getting another addition think rescue! They have a story, they have love and a ton of life to offer! Adopting Blu is one of the greatest things Tommy & I did Together and I wouldn't trade that dog for the world!!!
